Keah-Choon Tan is Professor of Operations Management in the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He received a BSc degree in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of South Alabama, and a PhD in Operations Management from Michigan State University. He obtained the Institute for Supply Management’s Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) designation, and the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) designation in 1996. He has published articles in the areas of supply chain management, quality and operations scheduling in academic journals and trade magazines including Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Omega, among others. He has also coauthored a supply chain management textbook entitled Principles of Supply Chain Management: A Balanced Approach, currently in its 5th edition.
Dr. Tan has served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Department Chair in the Lee Business School at UNLV. In addition to serving as the co-track chair and on various committees of the Decision Sciences Institute, he has also served as the chief editor, co-guest editor and on the editorial boards of academic journals. Prior to academia, Dr. Tan was a hospital administrator at a private specialists hospital and an account comptroller of a listed manufacturing firm in Malaysia. Dr. Tan has received several research grants and teaching awards, including the UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award.
